  3. Lauterbrunnen valley, church, and waterfalls
  4. Zermatt village & the Matterhorn
  5. Stellisee, Gornergrat (3089 m), Riffelberg, Riffelsee & Blausee

Depending on the weather!

  • Your camera,
  • a tripod,
  • a wireless remote or cable release,
  • a wide-angle lens (24mm or wider),
  • a telephoto lens (the Matterhorn and glaciers love reach),
  • a ND filter (10-stops or higher) for long exposures,
  • a laptop with Lightroom or Photoshop (or both) for the post-processing.

June in the Swiss Alps is cool at sunrise and can shift fast. Pack layers, a warm mid-layer, a rain shell, sun protection for Gornergrat at 3089 m, and hiking boots with grip for Stellisee, Riffelsee, and the mountain paths. Evenings in Lucerne, Lauterbrunnen, and Zermatt are milder but still bring a sweater.

Yes — and that’s half the fun. Plan on hiking at least two miles a day to reach the best sunrise and sunset spots. We move at a photographer’s pace, with plenty of stops for the light, but the trails to Stellisee, Riffelsee, and the mountain viewpoints are part of the experience. If you can stroll a couple of miles on alpine paths in comfortable hiking boots, you’ll feel right at home.

I accept all level of experience in photography, but just make sure you have the gear needed; otherwise it will be no fun for you. If you are missing a lens or a ND filter don't worry about it!

If you are planning on bringing your husband or wife and they are NOT participating in the workshop, the cost is an additional $1,700. This will cover city tax, transportation and meals.
